PE

Sporting opportunities exist both within and outside of the curriculum for all ages, interests and abilities.

The Market Bosworth School has an enviable reputation for sporting excellence with individual and team successes ranging from borough to county honours.

Sport is an integral part of school life and the school aims to promote enjoyment and satisfaction. Students are nurtured and encouraged to achieve their potential.

All students have the opportunity to play competitive fixtures in a variety of sports, ranging from: football, rugby, netball, hockey, basketball, badminton, trampolining, cricket, rowing, table tennis, athletics, swimming, rounders and tennis.

The PE Department recognises that many students play sports out of school and positive links are actively encouraged with clubs in all sports.

All students, regardless of ability, feel involved in sport at The Market Bosworth School through the vast range of sports available.

The school is able to offer a full range of activities to ensure the acquisition and development of physical skills, fitness and movement.

Inter-form competitions, such as football, rugby, basketball, cross country and Sports Day, encompass all those students who would like to represent their form at the sport.

The PE and Sport Department also sets up personal challenge opportunities in swimming and running. These are linked to fundraising events and are high profile within school.

Ethos of the Department

In Physical Education and other areas linked to the department we attempt to complement and contribute to the general aims of the school. It is the intention that all students, regardless of their ability, should be given the opportunity to experience a wide range of physical activities, thus contributing to the overall experience and package that the school has to offer.

Within the curriculum the work is designed to cover National Curriculum requirements and more, to give the students as much experience in as many activities as possible. Our model is also designed to allow students to advance and perform to the best of their ability and whilst the drive for excellence is very important, total participation is our aim.

All lessons are intended to be physical experiences involving some aspect of health and fitness as well as skill development. Work will also cover attitudes to sport including fair play and the recognition of strengths and weaknesses and how their actions affect the work of others.
