Two trips are organised to Le Touquet, a pretty coastal town approximately one hour from Calais. Students stay in the Hippotel, a pleasant, family-run hotel on the outskirts of the town. The students’ bedrooms accommodate 4/5 students each, and have private facilities. All staff and students are housed on the same floor. The duration of the trip is 3 nights/4 days. The hotel provides half-board accommodation.
Excursions during our stay include: visits to a French market, chocolate factory, Sealife Centre, French café, theme park, water park, and bowling alley.
Students are encouraged to practise their French, and find out about French food, towns, culture and way of life by completing various practical activities, such as buying their own lunch, finding prices for fruit and vegetables at the market etc.
Introductory letters are normally given out mid-way through the Autumn term, and deposits paid by Christmas. For a copy of the letter relating to this trip please click on the link below.
October - Day trip
The visit includes studying the castle’s defensive features and looks at how it developed into a spacious and luxurious home by the Tudor period, when Elizabeth I visited. Students will learn how to identify different features of castles from a ruined site, so that if they visit other castles they will understand more of what they see.
This is an ancient historic site which is open to the public. Students are supervised in small groups. Sensible behaviour is expected at all times during the visit.
Trip details are announced in September.
