Amazing GCSE results 2018!

The Market Bosworth School are celebrating another incredible set of GCSE results, where 89% of students gained GCSEs in maths and English at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C equivalent). This makes the School one of the highest achieving in England compared to the 2017 national average (64%). Performance across the board was exceptional, with every one of the school’s own high progress targets surpassed.

The remarkable results included the following achievements:  

  • 91% of all exams taken by TMBS students gained a grade C (4) or above
  • 87% of TMBS students achieved five GCSE passes including English and maths (national average 2017 61%)
  • Over 30 TMBS students gained seven or more GCSEs at grade A (7) or above
  • 69% of TMBS students achieved a 9 to 5 grade in English and maths (national average 2017 42%)
  • 50% of TMBS students achieved their Ebacc (national average 2017 23%)

  

Stuart Wilson, Principal said, “In a year of unprecedented change for GCSE subjects, our students have excelled in all areas of our diverse curriculum. These outstanding results are a testament to the inspirational working relationships that have been built between students and staff during the past 5 years.

So many of our students have had to  overcome individual barriers and challenges to achieve their own personal goals. Myself and all of the staff at TMBS are incredibly proud of their achievements. We wish our 2018 cohort all the best in the next stage of their education, they have been brilliant, a real credit to themselves, our school and our community.”

Individual Subject Highlights:

Pass rate of 90% or more: French, Double Science, Drama, English, Maths, PE, Textiles, Computer Science.

Pass rate of 80% or more: History,  Business, Geography, Graphics, Media, Dance, Music, ICT.

Pass rate of 100%: Citizenship, Art, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Tech IT, Spanish, Gujurati.
