Normandy Blog Day 3

Another sunny day in Normandy but a chilly sea breeze blowing in from port Winston (Malberry Harbour) where students learnt about Operation Overlord. Starting the day in the 360° cinema gave students a powerful introduction to the events of D-Day. Moving onto the museum students spent more time looking at the decisions made leading up to the successful recapture of the beaches. 

 After lunch at Omaha beach we visited the battle scarred cliff tops of Pointe du Hoc exploring the craters and bunkers. The day concluded with an emotional visit to the American cemetery to see the sacrifices made. 

 Once back at the hotel students had dinner before unwinding at the beach in the evening.
